1. SIMPLE SENTENCE : is a sentence consisting of only one clause with a single subject and predicate or verb.

2. COMPOUND SENTENCE : is a sentence which contains 2 independent clauses joined by a comma, semicolon or conjunction.

3. COMPLEX SENTENCE: is a sentence that contains an independent clause with atleast one or more dependent clause.

4. COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCES: is comprised of at least 2 independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.

5. INDEPENDENT CLAUSE: can able to stand alone as a sentence. It has a subject, a verb and is a complete sentence.

6. DEPENDENT CLAUSE: cannot express a complete sentence and cannot stand alone as sentences. It begins with a subordinating conjunctions like because, since, after, although, when etc.

a. COMPOUND- COMPLEX SENTENCE: Here when I grow up (dependent clause), I will be a teacher ( independent clause) and work at a school ( independent clause).

b. COMPLEX SENTENCE: After our trip to Europe ( dependent clause), we moved to Italy ( independent clause).

c. SIMPLE SENTENCE: Here Mary and Kate is the subject and watch is the verb.

d. COMPLEX SENTENCE: The boy who wears a red shirt ( dependent clause), rarely talks in class( independent clause).

e. SIMPLE SENTENCE: Here Mat and Mike are the subjects and learning is the verb.

f. COMPOUND CLAUSE: It was raining all day ( independent clause) therefore ( conjunction) , the roads were flooded ( independent clause).

g. COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCE: While Kate enjoys running ( dependent clause), Eve prefers dancing ( independent clause) but ( conjunction) Mary loves swimming ( independent clause).

h. COMPLEX SENTENCE : Although it was very long ( dependent clause), the movie was still enjoyable ( independent clause)

i. COMPLEX SENTENCE: Eve cried when they lost the games ( independent clause), but she soon got better ( dependent clause).

j. COMPOUND SENTENCE. It has 2 independent clause ( stands as a sentence) and each sentence is followed by a semicolon (;). The day is beautiful ( independent clause) ; we are going out for a walk ( independent clause).
