Answer #1

1.Sol :-

Given,

Mass of SO2 formed = 66.6 g

Gram molar mass of SO2 = 64.066 g/mol

We know

Number of moles = Given mass in g / Gram molar mass of substance

So,

Number of moles of SO2 formed = 66.6 g / 64.066 g/mol

= 1.04 mol

Given, Balanced chemical equation is :

As4S6 + 9 O2 -------------------> As4O6 + 6 SO2

From the balance chemical equation :

6 moles of SO2 are formed by = 1 mol of As4S6

So,

1.04 mol of SO2 are formed by = 1 mol x 1.04 mol / 6 mol

= 0.17326 mol of As4S6

Now,

Mass of As4S6 = Number of moles of As4S6 x Gram molar mass of As4S6

= 0.17326 mol x 492.1 g/mol

= 85.26 g of As4S6

Hence, Required mass of As4S6 = 85.26 g
