Sense of proprioception defines the position of the body in the space. Proprioceptive training is helpful in development of brain in terms of coordination, balance, attention and focus. It develops neuro-sensory function of the brain.

a. activities like patterning of toys, line walking, push and pull activities, and animal walking are useful for motor development in childhood. They help to create a balance between brain signals and body.

b. Body has an internal ability to sense movement in the joint and relative position of joint in the space. During an injury, proprioception of the joint gets disturbed due to damage of receptors which sense brain information. In rehabilitation, specific exercises related to injury are helpful in regaining proprioception.

c. In case of athletes, proprioceptive exercises (strength training and cross walks) help in increasing coordination between receptors of joint and muscle with brain. It prevents injury in athletes.

d. For elders, seated hip exercises, pillow balance exercises are helpful in preventing falling risk.
