Answer: Childhood obesity is becoming now adays common as there are many factors which contributes to this such as:

  • Socioeconomic status: People those who are at poverty level or have low income are unable to provide proper food or nutrition to the children which causes increase in the weight as they eat whatever they get.
  • Physical activity: At present children are less interested in playing outdoor games. They watch television, play games on phone etc. These lack of physical activities and exercise are making obese.
  • Caffeinated drinks: More junk foods as well as caffeinated drinks are common in the child age group. This increases the weight gain.

The effect of obesity in children causes many problems such as due to obesity there are increased in the risk of developing diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension etc. The improper brain development which also causes children to unable to concentrate on their studies.

Children should avoid junk foods as well as caffeinated beverages. They should eat healthy and nutritious foods which can provide them strength. They should Indulge in physical activities, play outdoor games etc.

It is necessary to meet the requirements of vitamin D and calcium as it makes bones strong and provides strength to the bone. It also makes them fit for running and prevent from having osteoporosis at the old age.
