12. Answer the following:

Select two variables, one independent variable and the other the dependent variable. Explain the cause and effect the relation between the two. How would you construct the Simple Linear Regression (quantity of data and how you will measure the results), and what would you use to validate the equation forecasting an x value. What will be your expectation of the results of this investigation?

Answer #1

Given data,

Where we can choose two variables

-> Let the academic performance in high school (x) &

the academic performance in college (y)

Now

x is dependent variable

y is independent variable

It can be expected that people who was excellent in academics in high school

Now x and y are positively co-related.

Formula:

Simple linear regression = y = β1 + β2 * x

where the high school records of different people can be easily collected

Now it is expected that regression equation

Finally x & y are expected to be positively co-related
