PROS :
1. Increased efficiency : The methods used to improve health care focus more on providing wuality care to the patient. This has increased the efficiency of healthcare sector. Innovating ideas are surfacing up to have an efficient system of care facilities.
2. New care model: earlier hospitals focused on the number of patients being treated to raise their income. But the scenario is changing. The hospitals now are more focused on providing quality care over quantity. The healthcare is trying to provide with accurate, appropriate and goal effective treatment which is in accordance with patient’s problems.
3. Improved healthcare accessibility : new reforms in healthcare like patient protection and affordable care act have improved the accessibility of healthcare for vast uninsured population. This will improve the overall health status of country.
Cons :
1. Increased burden of administrative costs : new methods bring in with them new documentation and paper work. Some methods requiring installing of new softwares. Well trained and qualified administrative staff is also needed. All this will increase the costs and budget of administration.
2. Coverage and reimbursements : due to highly efficient insurance system in the country the reimbursement and coverage rates have increased to manifolds.
3. High demand of labour and low payments : increasing access and demand to healthcare will cause labour shortage. The healthcare system will need to bring in new employees. To meet the financial budget cost cutting will occur including payment reduction to employees.
