Title I states that employment practices cannot discriminate against a qualified individual with a disability.

A qualified Medical Assistant interviews for a job and exceeds all requirement.However, she has a hearing issue that makes listening for blood pressure difficult. What are some reasonable accommodations that could be made for her without placing and undue burden on the medical office?

The Americans disables act (ADA), which amended by Americans disabilities Amendments of 2008 Act (Amendments ACT or ADA is the federal law prohibits the discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities including those who have impairment that substantially limit the major life activity, have a record of substantially limiting impairment or are regarding to have a disability

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces the employment provisions of ADA. The documents addressing particular disabilities in the work place

The ADA requires employers to provide adjustment or modifications- called reasonable accommodations – to enable applicants and employee with disabilities to enjoy equal employment opportunities unless doing so would be an undue hardship.

Accommodation employees required the following accommodations need provide

  • Assistive technology
  • Closed CC TV for reading printed materials
  • An External computer magnifier
  • Digital recorders
  • Software will read information on the computer screen
  • An optical scanner that can create documents electronic from printed ones
  • A refreshable braille display
  • Written material in accessible format such as larger print, braille
  • Modification of employer policies to allow use of guiding dog in the work place
  • Modification an employment test
  • Driver or payment for cost of transportation to enable to performance of essential functions
