Five days prior to admission: Fever in the morning to 102. Runny nose and draining, red eyes also were present. Parents were unable to keep neither his eyes nor his nose clear from discharge. These symptoms worsened for the next two days, and he developed a cough and was breathing fast.
Two days prior to admission: Small red rash noticed on his cheek near his eye. Fevers, cough and conjunctivitis continued; slow progression of his rash over the next 24 hours.
Day of admission: Rash now includes most of his body, having progressed from his head down to his feet.
Review of Symptoms :Positive: fever, cough, tachypnea, red eyes, rash, decreased appetite, malaise, irritability, dry diapers, cracked lips. Negative: diarrhea, vomiting, seizures, puffy hands, peeling skin.
