Directions: Write a paragraph for each of the following:

  1. Based on characteristics of friendships and best friends, can you have a best friend be of the opposite sex without romantic feelings on at least one person's part? Explain your reasoning.
  2. What would be the rules or norms you would have in that best friendrelationship (if any) especially if you are dating other people? How would being best friends be impacted if at least one person in that relationship prefers same-sex relationships? (easier to be best friends or more difficult or just different?) What benefits do you/could you have from having a best friend of the opposite sex and even opposite orientation?

Answer #1

If there is a single man and a woman and they like each other as friends. If they are* exclusive friends*, they will remain friends for a long time. If they only interact with each other on a daily basis, it becomes difficult to maintain the same level as it becomes slowly more than a friendship. It may not be on both sides, but it may be on one side. Sooner or later, everyone wants to get into a relationship in their life. If you're single and your female friend is single, you both like each other, take care of each other, interact with each other every day and exclusively, why don't you want to have a relationship with them

If you have a lot of male / female friends that's kind of a group or colleagues, then staying friends can be a lot. It's not exclusive because it is not. If you communicate with a specific person exclusively, you can be friends, but only for a specific period of time. In terms of emotions, things can sooner or later go a little further. or one of the two is already committed to someone else, so it can be very good friendship, of course, and it can stay that way.

Although young adolescents prefer peers of the same sex, the value of peers of other genders increases over time. The perceptions of sixth graders were contrasted with those of eighth graders in mixed-sex settings and the other-sex peer bias grew over time. Until the eighth grade, expectations for other-sex relations were not regularly defined. In their detailed interactions in mixed-sex settings, boys and girls did not differ; of eighth grade, both classified mixed-sex environments as more fun than same-sex-only contexts. Since girls tend to value close intimate relationships, they can be particularly affected by peers who are antisocial. Although satisfying a need for intimacy, if implemented as part of sustaining a close relationship, girls may be particularly susceptible to promoting antisocial behavior.

You are exposed to more diverse points of view This is true of the majority of friends who are not exactly the same as you. There will be different experiences with friends who are women. There will be different experiences with friends who are people of color. There will be different experiences for those in the LGBT community. It's amazing.
You get insight into the world of dating Don't get me wrong, putting this one on the list is difficult. Girls aren't good at dating automatically because they're girls. There are no guys either. Yet, when they grew up, both sexes had slightly different rulesets put on them, and it's important to have someone who knows the other ruleset.
