Difference between fibrous and globular proteins :

1.shape and solubility

Globular protein is spherical and formed colloids with water and also dissolved in water. These are soluble in water, acids, and base. These are called as spheroproteins.

Example- Hemoglobin

Fibrous proteins are elongated strand-like structures and form the structure of rods or wires. These are also called as scleroproteins.

These are insoluble in water, weak acids and weak bases but soluble in strong acids and alkalis

Example-keratin, collagen, and elastin

2.Functions

Globular proteins form enzymes, cellular messengers, amino acids, hormones and also helps in transportation of vital nutrients like oxygen through hemoglobin.

Fibrous proteins form connective tissue, tendons, and fibers of the muscle and also helps in the movements of the muscles and tendons at a joint. Fibrous protein like Fibroin,used to produce silk by silkworms and webs of spiders.
