I'd really like to get your thoughts on the benefits and challenges of nonprofit organizations and if you think the same five factors impact nonprofit organizations. Both nonprofit and for-profit businesses create financial and social value in very similar ways. They employ people and help grow our economy through the purchase of goods and services from other companies. Also, as our nation becomes increasingly diverse, nonprofit organizations play an important role in assimilating new groups of people into our communities. Nonprofits are essential platforms for providing health care services; social and human services; educational, arts and recreational programs; youth centers; and much more. However, nonprofit organizations continue to face some real challenges.

Class, what are some challenges nonprofits are facing as the need for services in our communities continues to grow?

Specific Challenges :

1) Fund raising : While NGOs have lot of good and progressive projects but due to lack of donors and visibility of the work they are doing , often donors are not engaged and they are not well informed about the plans and goals . Its important to have proper avenues of funds and support from Govt to run the projects in NGOs .

2) Sustainable projects : The projects in which work are not sustainable in long run due to lack of resources in terms of manpower , funds , govt policy changes . Example : Developing a community transport system for villagers is a nice project but in long run if it is sustainable or not depends on the involvement and co-operation of all the stakeholders involved like retailer , producer, transporter .
