Answer #1

Given:

Delta E = 6915 J

W = -346 J [negative because work is done by the system]

Use:

Delta E = Q + W

6915 = Q - 346

Q = 7261 J

Given:

Q = 7261 J

m = 80 g

Ti = 25 oC

Tf = 225 oC

use:

Q = m*C*(Tf-Ti)

7261.0 = 80.0*C*(225.0-25.0)

C = 0.4538 J/g.oC

Answer: 0.454 J/g.oC
