Answer #1

Answer: The five items for which Wal-Mart utilizes RFID technologies are

  1. Clothes
  2. Electronic equipments
  3. Automobiles parts and accessories
  4. Art and craft items
  5. Pharmacy and health products

The major benefits that RFID technology offers to Wal-Mart is that it enables the company to manage its inventory in a better manner and secondly it reduces the incidences of theft and shop lifting inside the organization. The costs of RFID technology outweigh investments as it reduces the losses that the company incurs because of the mismanagement in inventory. It enables the company to avoid situations like bullwhip effect and create efficiency in supply chain. Similarly the reduction in costs because of shoplifting and theft also offset the costs of RFID technology at Wal-Mart.
