A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture that can be considered as a sol, in which there is dispersion of solid particles in a liquid or solid. Some examples are given: a gel, a semisolid sol in which all of the liquid phase has been absorbed by the solid particles; an aerosol, a dispersion of solid or liquid particles in a gas; or an emulsion, a dispersion of one liquid phase in another. Whereas suspension is a heterogeneous mixture of particles of one substance distributed throughout a second phase. Dispersion medium is the continuous phase of a colloid. It is the phase in which the dispersed phase is distributed. One example for suspension is paint in which solid particles are dispersed in liquid. Here solid is the dispersed phase and liquid is the continuous phase-dispersing medium. Colloid emulsifying agent is a stabilizing substance that inhibits the coalescence combining of the dispersed phase in the dispersing medium.

By how much would GDP rise in each of the following scenarios? Explain, with reference to the definition of GDP above. (c) The economy goes into recession. To counter this, the government decides to take a series of steps. First, it signs an infrastructure bill (investing in infrastructure like roads, bridges etc.) for $100 million. Next, it cuts tax rates by 5%, meaning a tax cut for industry amounting to $5 billion (think carefully about this one). Finally, it increases...

Which of the following statements could explain how a cell with a defect in DNA repair could become cancerous? The cell could accumulate mutations that lead to additional defects in normal cell behavior. Transcription in the cell may be halted. Apoptosis may be triggered. The cell cycle will arrest at the G1 to S phase cell cycle checkpoint.
