It is a fact that the number of beats on a string which is being tuned equals the difference of the frequencies of the component waves. In this case the component frequencies are the correct frequency and the measured frequency. The beat frequency is equal to 1/4=0.25 Hz. Therefore this is the difference between the correct frequency and the measured frequency. The correct option is D).
