Part 1 Scenario (Care for Infants and Toddlers)

T was playing with his friend outside the house while his mother is busy cooking the food inside the kitchen. After a few minutes, the mother called both of them inside for lunch. They run inside, sit on the chair and started eating, grabbing food with their unwashed hands. T’s mother did not notice so she did not give instruction to send them to wash their hands or give any table manners instruction. While T and his friend were eating, the mother finishes eating first. She stands up, goes to the kitchen and washes her hand and then she walks outside to do the laundry. Leaving T and his friend sitting at the table still eating their meals.

  1. List five (5) skills both child where starting to develop and provide examples from the scenario to support your answers?

  1. Discuss some of the care issues that you can identify in the scenario above and formulate a daily routine to help T’s mother?

  1. List 5 other daily routines which would contribute towards the child’s care and development.

1. Providing a positive toileting experiences and nappy changing in early childhood.

2.. Create a daily routine on positive toileting experience for 3-5yrs old children or positive nappy changing for children under two years of age.

1) a. Priorities related to child care are :-

- Hygiene

- Safety and injury prevention

- Health

- Teaching good manners

- Love and care

b) Five skills the child were starting to develop are :-

- Being independent ( children were eating their food themself )

- socialization ( both of them were playing together )

- Team approach ( both were cooperative )

- Sharing ( T was sharing food with the other friend )

c) Some of the care issues that I found in the scenario above are :-

- discipline issue ( the child sat directly after playing )

- hygiene issue ( like hand washing before having food )

- safety issue ( as the mother had her food and went to wash laundry )

Daily routine to help T 's mother :-

- Be strict with the child in developing good manners and discipline in his life , spend her time in observing whether he is following the instructions

- Have tme to spend with the child while eating , studying etc

- Trying to complete household works in the morning itself

d) Five daily routine that would contribute child's care and development are :-

- waking up the child early in the morning

- doing exercises together in the morning

- having healthy food

- scheduling the daily routine in a timetable

- encouraging the child in outdoor activities

- sleeping timely at night

- encouraging the child to do their work themselves
