Pros and cons of vector method in storage of spatial data.

Pros of vector method :

  • As most data is in vector form so no data comversion is required
  • Accurate geographic location is possible
  • Since it consists of points, lines , polygons so it can easily be created
  • Graphic output is more catogrpahically pleasing.
  • data can be created without generalization . etc.

Cons of vector method :

  • Spatial analysis and fittering withing polygon is not possible
  • Continuous data can not be represented in vector form
  • Location of each vertex needs to be stored explicitly etc.
