Answer #1

RDA of calcium for adult is 1000 mg and for adult women between 51-70 age is 1200 mg. Normally ,one can get enough calcium from food itself. Some people like pregnant women, after the menopause, aged people the requirement is high.

If the dietary calcium intake is insufficient it causes osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, weight gain etc.

When body take calcium from bone for cell function for long time, it leads to osteoporosis. It increases the risk of bone fracture.

Taking calcium supplements more than recommended causes formation of kidney stone.

Dietary calcium get absorbed with help of vitamin D , magnesium and zinc. Deficiency of this also hinder the absorption of calcium.
