Question

4. Draw both a position-versus-time graph and a velocity-versus-time graph for an object at rest at x=1m. 5. The figure shows the position-versus-time graphs for two objects, A and B, that are moving along the same axis. At the instant t1 s, is the speed of A greater than, less than, or equa to the speed of B? Explain. b. Do objects A and B ever have the same speed? If so, at what time or times? Explain. 6. Below are six position-versus-time graphs. For each, draw the corresponding velocity-versus-time graph directly below it. A vertical line drawn through both graphs should connect the velocity y, at time with the position s at the same time t. There are no numbers, but your graphs should correctly indicate the relative speeds. a. b.

4 Here the velocity graph is the same as time axis because the velocity is zero for all time. ot sueat ae 3 七 on hme yemain on the Collides wit4 time aseis 5 In the position vs time graph, the velocity is given the slope of the curve as dx dt u=

which is nothing but the slope of v vs t graph from the figure we can easily see that the slope of line A is larger then that of B at time 1 that means the velocity of A is larger then that of B att 1 Both A and B will have the same speed for the time where the curves of A and B are parallel to each other because the slope of two parallel lines are equal. At time around 3s the slope of both the curves is same. 6 The velocity is constant for both the graphs. As velocity is given by the slope of the x vs t graph and we can see that the slope of the left graph is negative resulting in -ve velocity and the slope of right hand side graph is positive resulting in a +ve graph.
