Answer #1

1. Answer;

Given volume = 650ml
time = 5 hr
drop factor = 20 gtts/ml
According to the basic formula, it should be derived as flow rate = 650 x 20 / 5 x 60
= 43.33
Hence the flow rate is 43 gtts/ min

2. Answer ;

Drug dosage = 125 mcg
Ordered drug dose = 0.25 mg, that is 250 mcg

So the number of tablet should be administered = 250 /125
= 2 tablets.

3. Answer ;

Volume remaining = 200 ml
Infusion rate = 80 ml / hr
Hence the time it will take to complete is = 200 / 80
= 2.5 , ie) 2 hour and 30 mins.

4. Answer ;

500 ml D5W contain 10,000 units of heparin.
So 1 ml contain 20 units.
Doctor order amount = 900 units, ie) 45 ml

So the appropriate delivery amount is 45ml /hr
