Answer #1

A stroke occurs when the brain function is disrupted due to any interference to blood flow to the brain. IT can be due to ischemia or haemorrhage. The interruption in blood supply in brief also can cause problems, as the neurons begin to die after just a few minutes without blood or oxygen. This will eventually lead to the death of brain cells and a loss of brain function occurs.

This will be manifested as impaired ability with movement, speech, thinking and memory, bowel and bladder, eating, emotional control and other vital body functions. If the disruption of flow to the brain is temporary it is called a transient ischemic attack (TIA), in which symptoms may occur for a short period of time. A TIA is the warning for an impending stroke.

Treatment and prevention of any cardiovascular disease and its risk factors are critical to stroke prevention.
