Answer #1

Order dose - Cefobid 1.5g in LRS, with a total volume of 250ml.

The infusion rate is 8ml/min

Infusion set 15gtt/ml

A.

8ml in 1 minute

So, 250ml = 8ml/min= 31 minutes and 15 seconds.

Answer - It will take 31 min 15 sec to infuse the total medication.

B.

If cefobid in 2g vial is diluted to 10 ml

then, 1 g is in 5 ml

1.59 x 5ml/lg = 7.5ml

Answer - 7.5 ml will be added to fluids.

C.

If patient will receive 1.25g of medication

The available fluid contains 1.5g in 250ml

250ml = 1.59 = 166.66ml/1g

Then 166.66 x 1.25 = 208.3ml

So, if the patient will receive 1.25g of medication, then we have to administer 208.3ml of fluid.

Infusion is going on 8ml/min

208.3ml - 8ml/min = 26min

Answer - If the patient will receive 1.25g of medication then it will take 26 min to infuse.

D.

If patient will receive 175ml of infusion

Total of 250 ml fluid contains 1.5g medication

Then 1 ml contains

1.59 + 250ml = 0.006g/ml

175 ml contains

0.006g/ml x 175ml = 1.059

1.05g = 1050mg

Answer - If the patient will receive 175ml of infusion, then patient will receive 1050mg of medication
