Answer #1

Critical thinking is a thought technique in which a person visualizes an idea and then performs the process of taking the necessary steps to reach a conclusion. This involves analysis, research, evaluation, hypothesis, and execution. Having critical thinking skills in today's information society age is vital to many professions. Using the five-step critical thinking skills process can eliminate much of the problem-solving worry and anxiety.

Identify the Problem- In critical thinking, the first step is to identify the issue. Consider what the problem is and break it down so that it is as specific as possible. Ask how big this issue really is. Determine why and what the consequences would be if no action is taken to solve this problem. Identify who should be involved in the resolution process as well.

Gather Information- Thinking about the subject as much as possible is critical. Search for possible reasons and solutions, but don't just embrace face value evidence. Investigate and explore all possibilities. Do not hesitate to seek out the thoughts and viewpoints of other people on the subject. Determine the quality of the data you know and the accuracy of it.

Evaluate the Evidence- The next step is to evaluate the collected evidence or information. Ensure accuracy of the information. Confirm that it has come from more than one source and that both are unbiased and reliable each of the sources. Determine whether the information is fact-based or opinion based. List all the ways of interpreting the evidence.

Consider Solutions- Plan a number of solutions based on the conclusions of the evaluation of the evidence. Consider the advantages and drawbacks of each of these options. It is necessary to explain what the challenges could be, as well as any short-term and long-term implications the approach has. Sometimes it helps to look back from the past on similar issues and what solutions have been used to solve them.

When deciding on an option, there are three factors to consider. The first is to determine the amount of risks that the solution involves. The second is the practicality of the plan, and the third is rivalry with any goals that must be achieved. Once the solution has been selected and implemented, it is necessary to monitor the results of the implementation of the plan.
