Exercise helps in making you a happy, healthy and independent person and keep you away from serious medical problems. It also promotes mental health, physical health and independence.

In order to motivate them to exercise:-

1. Scare Tactics

Example:-

  • an elderly person is admitted to hospital every 11 seconds for a fall in United States.
  • 2 million adults over age of 65 suffer from depression
  • 83.6 million Americans over age of 60 usually have at least one type of cardiovascular disease

2. Eliminate Barriers

Depict activity as an extreme sport and show them that physical exercise is accessible to them.

For example, senior-only time slots in local gym, yoga sessions etc.

3. Get Creative

Introducing this as a medium of physical fitness, and mental health.

4. Find Groups

Senior groups provides scope for entertainment and exercise both.

5. Issue an Invite

Outings can provide great motivation to exercise and remove loneliness.

6. Setting Goals

Setting goals by measuring exercise, giving challenge, and motivation to increase the activities.

7. No Excuses

Set small workout area at home to provide them comforts of their own space.
