I think trying to achieve wide scale heath equity is a laudable goal because every individual has right to lead a healthy life.Health equity is the the absence of avoidable, unfair or remedial differences among groups of people whether those groups are defined socially, economically, demographically or geographically or by other means of stratification.
KEYS TO ACHIEVE THE HEALTH EQUITY ARE :-
1)Make health equity a leader driven priority:- This step may sound simple but senior management must not only articulate the vision but also act on it by building it into all high level decision making. That direction setting from top puts the strategy directly into practice and sets the tone for entire organisation.
2)Develop structures and processes that support :-To advance equity health systems must dedicate financial and information resourses as well as set up a governance structure that oversees and manages this work across the organisation.
3)Take specific actions that address the social determinants of health :-An organisation must first identify the health disparities that exist in its community and take concrete actions to address these disparities.
4)Confront institutional racism within the organization :- Racism whether implicit or overt is an independent driver of poor health and continues to corrupt our health systems. It must be addressed, identified .
5)Partner with community organizations :- Health care and community organisations must collaborate if they are serious about addressing health equity in the populations they serve.
People who are given the opportunity to achieve optimal health but do not take advantages of it may face some sort of health issues in future as regular health check must be done to keep our community and society healthy .It may also effects the ecomomic conditions of that country as their is unsustainable and wasteful health care spending and diminished productivity in the business sector.
