Moment of Inertia: Sphere The expression for the moment of inertia of a sphere can be developed by summing the moments of infintesmally thin disks about the z axis. The moment of inertia of a thin disk is 2 and the integral becomes 15 Radius IR Mass M M M Density p:_ Substituting the density expression gives 15

we take a small disc and then integrate it to complete sphere.
