The main types of living wills would include an advanced directive, a power of attorney, and a proxy. An advanced directive is a document that a person fills out to declare what medical decisions they want made when and if they are not able to make their own decisions. A power of attorney is a specified person to make legal and financial decisions for you, where a proxy is a designated person to make medical decisions if you are unable to. The main problem with most living wills is the emotional attachment of the POA or proxies. You would usually appoint someone close to you to be your decision maker and this can be very difficult for the designated person in a time of need. Issues with advanced directives would include family differences. A person nay fill out their AD with the wish for no extra care (breathing machine, tube feeding, etc.) but the family may cause a problem to the medical staff if they wish for otherwise. This puts the medical staff in a predicament because they are legally binded to fulfill the wishes of the patient. I believe this does not negate the value of advanced directives because it is ultimately what the patient wishes at the time that they complete the AD.

for you is called up power of attorney and proxy is giving authority to make medical decision when

you are unable to do it. Emotional attachment of POA and proxy’s are the main problem of living

wills usually you would appoint someone who is closed to you to make your decision but it can

difficult for the designated  person when needed. Family deference’s are major issue with

advance directives. A person may wish for no extra care ( Breathing machine , Tube feeding )

In There advance directives but the family members may create problems in such cases which

put the medical staff in predicament because they are binded legally to fulfill the wishes of the patient.

In my believe the value of advance directives should not negate because they are fullfiling the wishes

of the patient in AD.
