Answer #1
  • "Lucy" is the nickname of one of the most well-known human ancestor fossils.Lucy was allocated to the species, Australopithecus afarensis, meaning “African southern ape from the Afar region.”
  • Modern humans and Lucy share a similar carrying area, called the bipedal carrying angle. So in studying and comparing with modern humans it's important to pay attention to the femora angles connecting hip joints to converge at the knee. Its formed in between the long access of the femur and the tibia.
  • In comparing chimpanzees with Lucy the arms are something to look at. Not quite as long in proportion to the chimps but definitely longer in proportion to the average human. The teeth of Lucy seem somewhere in between modern human dental structure and that of a chimpanzee. I believe that teeth tell us a lot of what we know on creatures makeup and lifestyle. To me this evidence shows that Lucy was somewhere in between, but on her way to becoming human.

Answer all the questions please Station 4: Tooth Proportions (Measure the Specimens from Stations 2 and 3) 1 The relative size of the anterior and posterior dentition has changed through time and is dependent upon dietary adaptations. Tooth proportions can be measured to track that change. Measure the width (side to side) of a central upper incisor and of an upper second molar (lingual side to buccal side). Then calculate an index to obtain a ratio of incisor-to-molar width Incisor...
