Answer #1

2 mg r + 0.5 m v^2 = 0.5m u^2

(2 x 3.01) + (0.5 x v^2) = 0.5 x 19.2^2

0.5 v^2 = 178.3

Velocity, v = 18.88 m/s

The Sidewinder is a shuttle type steel rollercoaster. The rollercoaster cart starts at the bottom of the frictionless track and is accelerated from a stand still over a distance of 7 meters. Then the cart enters the loop, rises to the top with just enough velocity to keep from stalling at the top of the loop. Gaining velocity the cart finishes the loop, bottoms out, and then rises up the vertical segment of the track. After stalling out at a...

A car travels at constant speed around a corner. The cars speed is 35 m/s and the radius of the circle is 0.25 km. The coefficient of static friction between the tires and the road is 0.7. What is the frictional force needed for the car to make the turn? What is the maximum force the static friction can produce? Does the car stay on the road? The car is in motion so why is the static friction important?
