Answer #1

Mass of Salicylic acid is 138.121g

no of moles= given weight / molecular weight

given weight of Salicylic acid is 2.92 g

no of moles of Salicylic acid = 2.92/138.121 = 0.0211 moles

%Yield = (practical yield / theoretical yield)×100

so 2.92g Salicylic acid ie 0.0211 moles of Salicylic acid will give 0.0211 moles of acetyl Salicylic acid.

theoretical yield of acetyl Salicylic acid = no. of moles × molar mass = 0.0211×180.158= 3.80g

% of yield = (4.4÷3.8)×100= 115

note: first pure your compound then calculate the yield.
