The gravitational force due to the weight of the meter stick will be acting at the midpoint of the meter stick ie. at 0.5 m. The point about which the stick is balanced at 0.25 m. Hence we can write the moment equation about the 0.25 m point as (Considering the perpendicular distance of the force from the point where the ruler is balanced).

(1)(0.25 - 0) = (m) 0.5 – 0.25) ► m= 1kg

Therefore the mass of the ruler is also 1 kg.
