The second runner waits 3 seconds and then throws a rock at his opponent's head. If the head and the rock are at the same level form the ground, what must the initial magnitude of the velocity be if the rock is to hit the head just at the 109 yard tape? Give the answer in feet per second

time taken by bullet to reach the horizontal distance

x = v t

1615 = 446 * t

t = 3.621 s

motion along vertical

h = 0.5 gt^2

h = 4.9* 3.621^2

h = 64.25 m
