Question

Question 2 2 pts Two runners are racing around a cicular track. The first runner is in the inside lane. The second runner is in the outside lane. If the first runner wants to stay side-by-side with the second runner, what does her angular velocity need to be? Her angular velocity must be less than the second runners O Her angular velocity must be greater than the second runners O Her angular velocity must be the same as the second runners We cant say without knowing the radius of the track.

Answer #1

since, first run on inner circle and second on outer circle
so,
r1 < r2
for being side by side
v2 > v1
so,
v2/r2 = v1/r1
w2 = w1

both must have same angular velocity

Answer: Her angular velocity must be same as second runner'

    in java Program 0: Due 9/3 A track coach wants to predict where her runners are on a 600 foot course. One complication is that the course is an out-and-back course, so runners must stop and turn at the half way point. Write a program that allows her to specify each runner's name, top speed (m/h) and acceleration (f/s/s). Print the predicted location (distance from the start) of each runner every 5 seconds. There is a maximum of 5 runners....

    Two runners start at the same point on a straight track. The first runs with constant acceleration so that he covers 109 yards in 9 seconds. The second runner waits 3 seconds and then throws a rock at his opponent's head. If the head and the rock are at the same level form the ground, what must the initial magnitude of the velocity be if the rock is to hit the head just at the 109 yard tape? Give the...

In their paper "The Rewards to running: Prize structure and performance in professional road racing", Lynch and Zax look at whether races with large prizes record faster times because they attract faster runners, or because they encourage all runners to run faster (the paper can be found on D2L, but you shouldn't need to read it in order to answer this question) They regress the time taken to finish the race on prize difference (defined as the dollar amount...
