Answer #1

To interpret the ABG ,pH ,pCO2 and HCO3 are essential

pH :The normal pH should range between 7.35 to 7.45. A range below it is called as acidic and above is alkalic .This funds the nature of the blood

The pH is within normal range

The pCO2 should range between 35 to 45 mmHg,This finds whether the problem is with respiratory system or not .A high level means hyperventilation or decrease in oxygen levels. A low level means hyperventilation

Here the value is very high suggesting that there is increased level of carbon dioxide.

So it is respiratory

The normal bicarbonate should range in between 22 to 28 mmHg. High level suggests it is metabolic alkalosis and low levels suggests metabolic acidosis.

This is indicative of Respiratory acidosis because in this condition the pH may be below or near normal ,bicarbonate may increase or decrease but strictly increasing the carbon dioxide levels.

As pH is normal with increased pCO2 and increased HCO3 it is termed to be compensated

Ans:Compensated Respiratory Acidosis
