Answer #1

Financing activities consisted of a series of cash dividends paid, along with stock buybacks and required a cash injection in each year of the analysis.

Stock has been repurchased to the tune of 330-480 million each, every year. Stock worth 38 million has been sold in 2014. Common or preferred stock has not been issued for any of the subsequent years.

In the most recent year, i.e. 2018, cash dividends worth 689 million have been paid out. This is the biggest outflow in the year. In terms of financing activities related to a change in the capital structure of the company, the biggest activity was a stock repurchase/buyback worth 328 million.

This has been the trend throughout these time periods, where the company has paid dividend, bought back its shares and issued debt in its lieu.
