Yes, an insurer can deny payment for a claim based on the insured’s failure to report the claim in a timely fashion because

1) The delay in reporting the claim would result in evaporation of the evidences and proof of loss which is essential to certify and clear the claim.

2) The Investigation would not be possible if the reporting got delayed and it will result in non-making of preliminary claim report and not clarifying the claim liability.
