The glucose test is the most frequently performed test to detect diabetes mellitus. Chemstrips and the Multistix brand are used to test the glucose in urine.
The glucose that is present in the urine can be detected by the
glucose oxidase method of reagent strip testing.based on a double
sequential enzyme reaction:
step 1 - glucose oxidase in the strip catalyzes a reaction between
glucose and air to produce gluconic acid and hydrogen
peroxide.
step 2 - peroxidase in the strip catalyzes the reaction between
hydrogen peroxide and a coloured chromogen to form an oxidized
coloured compound,
Specific for glucose = 100 mg/dL
Doesn't react with other sugars
False Positive = contamination with peroxide or strong oxidizing
substances
False Negative = reducing substance (ascorbic acid), high specific
gravity, low temperature, bacteria (2hr rule)

Glomerular Filtration 1. Blood entering the glomerulus contains blood cells, proteins, glucose, amino acids, salts, urea. wall and enter the filtrate. acids, salts, urea, and water to exit the blood and 2. Blood pressure causes small molecules of glucose, amino enter the glomerular capsule. The fluid in the glomerular capsule is called the filtrate. become part of the filtrate. 3. In the list that follows, draw an arrow from left to right for the small molecules that leave the glomerulus...

1) Write a Reaction equation using 4- aminobenzenesulfulfonic acid (aniline derivative) and 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid (coupling agent). Write the mechanism. SYNTHESIS OF AZO DYES INTRODUCTION Humans' love of color dates back almost to prehistoric times, yet it is not actually until the modern era that the full range of the rainbow has been accessible to the majority of people irn their clothes and other textiles. Ancient or medieval times have often been described as being quite splendid with their "tyrian purple"...
10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
