Principle= Glucose oxidase on the test strip oxidizes glucose to gluconic acid and reduces oxygen to hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide in presence of the enzyme peroxidase will oxidize an indicator, giving a colored reaction. It is used to detect glucose in urine.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), commonly taken as a dietary supplement and excreted in the urine, can interfere with peroxidase redox indicator systems such as those used in reagent-strip tests for urinary glucose.
