Underwriting is done in the securities market that is capital market. By underwriting we mean analysing the risk and price of s security. It is most common process of the primary market. Before bringing the IPO the firm hire underwriter predicts the price, quantity of shares, type of issue, timing of issue etc.
Generally an underwriter acts as a guarantor to the issue. The underwriters are generally Financial institutions.
Most of the underwriting is done by financial institutions such as bank, insurance companies, development banks wtc.
