Rowitz (2014, p. 103) strongly argues for team leaders to be empowering in their approach to working with teams. In chapter 1 of his book, Rowitz presents ‘10 Principles of Empowerment’, specifically with regard to public health leadership. Describe these 10 principles in relation to your own experience of working within a team (as a leader or follower). Provide an example where you have experienced Rowitz’s empowering approach, or where this approach would have been beneficial to have been used with the team. Is empowerment an easy or difficult leadership approach to implement? Is it common practice, or is it rare? Explain your response, based on your personal or professional experience.

Answer #1

My own experience of working as a leader with following Rowitz's approach are
-creativity
-Make it a reality with courage and fortitude
-Ability to see the future
-ability to work with others
-When someone leads better work staying back
- willingness to follow as a leader
-ability to work within the organization
-community commitment and stand in values
- involving in public health
This approach is really encouraged to lead the team as a leader. example: I have learned so much from an employee when they make better decisions than me. I will never blame them or avoiding their concept instead I will focus on their decision and plans that allow improving with good results.
empowerment leadership is a highly desirable and important culture. this empowerment is an easy and sometimes difficult... leadership approach to implement desired outcomes. it needs high skills, self-directed work needed to make meaningful choices. Taking ownership will be a real problem because it has a different shift from our traditional way of implementation. As a leader when I follow this Rowitz's empowering 10 principles it really gave a clear idea of how to build a relationship and create a vision for the future.
