Answer #1

Requirement (a)

Jake earned $ 914 at $ 20 per hour. in a week.
Hence, he worked for 914/20, i.e., 45.70 hours in a week.

Requirement (b)

Maximum normal hours in a week = 40 hours
Jack worked for 45.70 hours.
Hence, his overtime hours are 45.70-40, i.e 5.70 hours.

Additional pay for overtime hours is at $20*0.50, i.e, $10 per hour.

Hence, additional pay is 5.70*$10, i.e., $ 57.

The Gross pay for Jack in the week is 914+57, i.e., $ 971.
