1.When there is diffuse damage the following can be expected from a patient

  • Change in level of consciousness ,headache, dizziness,disorientation
  • Movement disorder
  • Shaken baby syndrome
  • Coma in severe cases
  • Vegetative conditions

2.The most common physical deficits which can be seen after ABI are

  • CNS:Headache, seizure
  • Musculoskeletal:dyspraxia,muscle spasm, paralysis
  • Sensory:blurry vision ,decrease hearing, hyposmia, dysphasia
  • Inability to control bladder
  • Lack of sleep or unable to have an uninterrupted sleep

3.The behavior exhibited as a result of ABI are

  • Anger ,temperament
  • Poor cognitive behavior
  • Increased sexual drive
  • Inability to change topic during conversation
  • Low initiative behavior
  • Aggression
  • Lack of social interaction or abnormal social behavior

4.The brain has the capacity to control the entire body function. For instance when there is damage in other organs of the body it can be repaired easily but it is not in the case of brain damage or injury where the function initiated by that particular part is affected.Though one can survive even with life support if there is brain dead or in a vegetative state they are termed to be dead due to the absence of voluntary and involuntary physiological and psychological functions. Hence being a healthcare professional it makes one to believe this statement
