Data sharing is a growing problem in the Health Informatics field with the implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHR) as well as other forms of electronic repositories. With concerns about security breaches of public medical records growing, many patients, clinicians, and doctors worry that precious private data may be hacked and used for devious purposes. This hesitation limits the capability that providers of medical care can distribute to their patients, an underlying problem in high medical expenses. Due to a lack of shared information and research on this data, medical providers are limited in their ability to research critical data to find resolutions to arising medical issues. Please explain the above scenario.

According to the HIPAA policies, only personnel who involved with care of the specific patient can only access to the medical records.So the access is very limited.Growth of advanced technology in health care has implemented Electronic Health Records which provides multiple visit encounters and multiple patient data at once.This infact a best thing for not missing any data instead of storing a large files with manual entries.But this has become a very critical thing for the physicians or researchers where they could not access some of the records or they could not get some critical data which is used to find certain etiologies or prognosis of particular diseases which helps in exploration and research.Only the research studies on multiple patient scenarios can only helps to create multiple treatment methods for the diseases.Thus access related issues are not allowing health personnel to solve certain issues.
