Answer: The BMR has affect on the thermoregulation as metabolisms is inefficient and produces heat. Endotherms provides metabolic heat and keeps a stable body temperature, whereas ectotherms do not. The baseline metabolic rate is measured as the basal metabolic rate (BMR) for an endotherm.

As soon as internal body temperature decreases below the normal range, which causes hypothermia and also other physiological process are affected.
