Nursing practitioner working with patients undergoing chemotherapy regularly encourage them to use acupressure in the form of sea Bands for the relief of treatment related nausea and vomiting . A mini systematic review was carried out to identify randomized controlled trials comparing the use of acupressure plus usual care with usual care alone. The results suggest that acupressure may decrease nausea among patients undergoing chemotherapy , advising patients on the efficacy of acupressure in preventing and treating chemotherapy induced nausea.

Nausea is a subjective sensation Associated with the will or desire to vomit. Vomiting is described as the oral expulsion of stomach or intestinal contents with a person having signs and symptoms such as a rapid or irregular heartbeat. Nurses are in a key position to monitor and assess patients ongoing assessment, also can lead to treatment strategies . A thorough assessment can help nurses and the health care team to fully understand CINV on patients.

To promote nursing practice that is based on evidence consisting of advanced practice nurses , staff nurses, and a nurse scientist were charged with reviewing the literature to determine that treatments and interventions are proven to alleviate many cancer related problems that are sensitive to nursing interventions.

Prevention of breakthrough or refractory CINV is much easier than treatment . The general principle is to give an agent from a different drug class than was previously used.

Nirses are in a unique position to support patients suffering from CINV by using evidence based interventions . In addition to initiating treatment , nurses should assess the impact of CINV on patients and their families , provide instructions and information about potential management options. Assessment , communication and education are key nursing roles in the successful treatment of CINV.

Nurses need reseach because it helps them advance their field , stay updated and offer better patient care . Nurses use information more effectively to develop their own conclusions . Evidence based practice is important for nurses. Nurses provide direct care to their patients on a daily basis, so they know which approaches work well and which need adjusting. Nursing professional are committed to the health and well being of everyone . The research they conduct often has lasting impacts. Finally it has been proved that the topic needs more research that focuses on the quality , quantity and costs of healthcare services.
