Answer #1

The order is for midazolam hydrochloride 2 – 5 mg/hr.

The pharmacy sends an IV of 25 mg midazolam hydrochloride in 50 mL D5W.

25mg/50ml

0.5mg/ml

Lowest ordered dose; 2 mg/hr

= 2/0.5

= 4 mL/hr will the nurse set on the IV pump to administer the lowest ordered dose of midazolam hydrochloride

Highest ordered dose; 5mg/hr

= 5mg/0.5

= 10

10 mL/hr will the nurse set on the IV pump to administer the highest ordered dose of midazolam hydrochloride

Hence the correct option is; a) 4 ml/hr, 10 mL / hr
