Diphenhydramine comes with label 12.5 mg per 5 ml.(For example).

Patient needs 30 mg PO TID.

12.5 mg = 5 ml

Desired amount= 30 mg

Amount in hand = 12.5 mg

Volume= 5ml

desired amount /amount in hand* volume=Dose

(30*5)/12.5= Dose

Dose= 12 ml PO tid .
