Respiratory disease and smoking

Reviewing the work on respiratory terminology, let's talk about how we could address one the the nation's most preventable causes of lung disease: Do you smoke? Have you ever smoked? Do you have friends or family members who are smokers? Have you seen the effects of this habit on people's health? What do you think the chances are that someone can quit -- and what are some of the techniques recommended?

   Finally, what is the cost of smoking in our healthcare system? How do you feel about mandating universal health coverage? About requiring insurance companies to insure everyone, regardless of their poor healthcare habits? Should cessation programs be mandatory, and if they were, do you think they would be helpful? As always, post a paragraph response to a classmate as well.

Smoking has become an habit now a days from teen to elderly population. It is estimated that approximately 14% of people smoke.There are people who may not smoke but they may definitely have a family member,reksyive friends,neighbours using this tobacco product. The effects of this on people who smoke are respiratory problems end with lung cancer, anxious,irritable,altered sensorium bad breath odour,chronic cough,change in colour of nail,fetal abnormalities,etc.,

The chance of quitting is very limited in chronic smoker unless they have a strong desire to stop it .Some of the techniques which can be recommended are

• Use if nicotine patch chew gums ,capsules are a better option to control its urge
• Divert oneself when triggered or forced
• Do not encourage relationship who will make you smoke
• Practice relaxation techniques to get a peace of mind from disturbances
• Try to engage in other activities when having the desire like meditation ,yoga
• Magnet therapy and cold therapy can be helpful
• Herbal products can be preferred
• Talk to a provider for a medical substitute which can help in quitting

Universal health civerage is a good scheme which has greater benefits insuring all for their quality health.Insurance company providing insurance to all is acceptable and welcomed one but it can pose a negative impact by a person poor healthcare habit like smoking,who knows smoking is injurious to health.This will cost unnecessary expenditure to the government besides alarming all in regards to smoking.

It cost approximately $300 billion expenditure on the treatment related to smoking. Cessation program will be helpful,by doing so when a smoker falls sick ,they are supposed to meet their health care expenditure on their own.This can burn their money and at one stage literally suffering medical conditions.This may affect one but it will stand as a lesson and a model to others by seeing their loss of finance and loss of precious life.This fear can bring a positive change in the society to bring an end to smoking.
