7 CS18 is the number of carbon atoms and 2 means 2 double bonds, that is why the name is 18:2

Now, omega-6 nomenclature implies that you are numbering from the CH3 end and you have to put a double bond at the 6th position. If it was asked to draw C-6 fatty acid then we would have started numbering from COO- end and plced the double bond at the 6th position.
