Why ethnic cleansing occurs and examples of ethning across the world and theoughout history?

The official United Nations definition of ethnic cleansing is"rendering an area ethnically homogenous by using force or intimidation to remove from a given area persons of another ethnic or religious group".In general ethnic cleansing can be defined as expulsion of population from given territory.

By Bell Fialkoff and others during ninth and seventh centuries B. C, the Assyrian empires brings ethinic cleansing by forcing millions of people in conquered land to resettle.

During middle age religion tend to be the main source of persecution, episodes of religious cleansing tended to target Jews and other largest monorities of Europe. American massacres by the Turks in1915_1919 is also an example. Native Americans in North America were forced to resettle in territory allowed to them by mid 19th centuary. In 20th centuary ethnic cleansing efforts have been done by nationalist movements. The most prominant example of ethnic cleansing was Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime in Germany and Jews in German controlled territory.

Most recently that is in 2003 in the Darfur region of Sudan where brutal clashes between rebel groups and Sudanese military forces two million to displace.
